We shouldn’t talk about it, but we have to…
Today it was announced that the cast of Disney’s Encanto will reunite at this Sunday’s Oscars to perform the film’s smash hit song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” live for the first time ever.
Not all of the cast members will be in attendance, however. Fans can expect Stephanie Beatriz (Mirabel), Adassa (Dolores), Mauro Castillo (Pico), Carolina Gaitan (Pepa) and Diane Guerrero (Isabela) to hit the stage alongside Latin singers Becky G and Luis Fonsi.
This won’t be the only song from the film performed during the telecast. “Dos Oruguitas”, which is nominated for Best Original Song, will be performed Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra.
For those wondering why the former chart-topper wasn’t nominated, all submissions were made in the fall. No one, not even Miranda, knew how much of a hit it would be.
Last month, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” beat out “Let It Go” from Frozen to become the highest charting song from a Disney animated film in 26 years. Prior to that, the last song to reach Billboard’s Top 100 chart was the iconic “A Whole New World.”
The 94th Annual Academy Awards will air exclusively on ABC this Sunday at 8PM EST/5PM PST.
Encanto is available to stream now on Disney+.
