It has been a long time since The Walt Disney Company announced its €2 billion investment into the Disneyland Paris resort. It would include much-needed renovations to existing attractions, shops, Disney’s Hotel New York (now Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel) and the Disneyland Paris Hotel.
But the most exciting news was the major expansion of the resort’s second park, Walt Disney Studios Park, which would include three new lands: Avengers Campus, a Frozen land, and a Star Wars land.
Due to delays, the expansion of Walt Disney Studios is only now nearing the completion of its first phase: the retheming of the Backlot into Avenger’s Campus, which will open this summer. But as we near its opening, Disney has started to turn their focus on the next phase: The Kingdom of Arendelle.

The Kingdom of Arendelle will be one of three Frozen-themed currently under construction across the globe and the only one outside of Asia. It will be similar to the version at Hong Kong Disneyland, with several of the same shops and restaurants and a new version of EPCOT’s Frozen Ever After attraction.

The above image released by Disney announced that construction on the Kingdom of Arendelle had begun at Walt Disney Studios Park. As you can see, they are still in the preliminary stages, so it will be a little while until we see structures go verticle.

The land will sit beside a 7.4-acre lake, which is also under construction. Near the entrance to Arendelle will be a promenade that will act as a transition from the lake to the new land. The promenade will include an Art Nouveau-style restaurant with 250 seats and meet and greets. The area will also have an unspecified family attraction – likely an off-the-shelf flat ride.

The lake is home to a new nighttime spectacular, a first for Disneyland Paris, which currently only has space for nighttime projection and fireworks shows. What show it will be is unknown, but it will include 4 character barges imported from Tokyo DisneySea’s version of Fantasmic! which closed on February 28th 2020. But as the original scooper, RichyDisney, stated in a now-deleted tweet: “They will be used as apart of the new lagoon show planned for WDSP. Note this is NOT Fantasmic, but just the equipment/barges.”
