Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Comic Book Collection of Obi-Wan’s Life

May is going to be a big month for Star Wars fans. Not only do we have a whole load of Star Wars comics coming our way, but we’ll finally see the release of the Disney+ TV series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Fans were recently told about the 2-day delay to the release date, with the show now streaming from 27th May.

If you can’t wait that long to get your Kenobi fill, don’t worry! Marvel comics is there to help you out with the start of a 5-part miniseries detailing major events from Obi-Wan’s life. And what better day for the first issue to be released than Star Wars day itself, May 4th.

While we don’t have a full rundown of what will happen in the series, or how closely it will tie in with the TV show, we do have some interesting information for the first 3 issues.

Here’s what we know so far.

While Obi-Wan Kenobi is spending his final days in the deserts of Tatooine, he is taking the time to reminisce about some of his past adventures, and has also taken up journalling. Each issue of this miniseries will cover a different, defining moment in the Jedi’s journey.

Issue #1 will take us back to Obi-Wan’s youth. On the city-covered planet Coruscant, Youngling Obi-Wan goes on a journey that he only just survives. In this first issue, we get to see an eight-year old Obi-Wan Kenobi in a story that will set the course for this Youngling’s future. Issue # 1 will be released on 4th May 2022.

In issue #2, we see Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Padawan answering a distress call with Qui-Gon Jinn. During their adventure to an outpost on the edge of the galaxy, they will discover a dark secret behind the call, and Obi-Wan will face a challenge that could pull him from the enlightened path of the Jedi, towards the dark side. Issue # 2 will be released on 22nd June 2022.

We still know very little about issue #3 of this series, but I’m sure more information will come to light soon. At this stage, we know that Obi-Wan will recount a story from the Clone Wars; one that is painful and bloody. This will lead him to question his purpose, not only in the war, but as a Jedi.

There is still a lot we don’t know yet about the miniseries, but it should be a good run. With a Kenobi filled month ahead of us, it will be interesting to get a little more information about him and know more about the history of one of the most beloved Jedi in the galaxy.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi issue #1 will be released on 4th May.

The new miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi will be released on Disney+ on 27th May.
