Yesterday, during Disney’s presentation at CinemaCon, the studio revealed a theatrical release timeline that featured a first look at The Haunted Mansion logo. While the studio did not speak on the project, they did release the logo to the public and revealed plot details.
The film is set to star LaKeith Stanfield (Knives Out), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Owen Wilson (Loki, Cars), Rosario Dawson (The Mandalorian), Danny DeVito (The One and Only Ivan), and Chase Dillon. Justin Simien, who was previously announced to be working on a Lando Calrissian solo series for Disney+, is directing. Kris Bowers, who scored King Richard, has been tasked with composing the iconic music from the attraction to the film.
The Haunted Mansion Plot Details
The Haunted Mansion follows a doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Dillon), who are looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for. Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish), and a crotchety historian (DeVito).
Haunted Mansion is slated to spook up audiences in theaters on March 10, 2023. We should expect our first look at the film, with a possible trailer, this September during Disney’s bi-annual D23 Expo this September in Anaheim, California.
