Ford, Mangold, Kennedy & Marshall Surprised Fans

Indiana Jones & Co. dropped by Star Wars Celebration 2022

Entertainment Weekly framed the moment well.

Writers Dalton Ross and Devan Coggan explained that legendary composer and conductor John Williams followed up his new theme to “Obi-Wan Kenobi” with “The Raider March” from Raiders of the Lost Ark:

As if that did not excite the crowd enough, they were about to be whipped (as it were) into an absolute frenzy when who should walk out on stage but Han Solo / Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford.

“I told John on another occasion when we had a chance to be together that that music follows me everywhere I go,” said Ford. “And you know what? I’m happy about it.”

Happy Notes

Ford wasn’t alone.

Happiness, which was already in high supply in Anaheim, crescendoed as fans of both franchises savored the moment.

Han Solo and Indy’s alter ego Ford, was joined by director James Mangold and producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy.

Meanwhile, after honoring Williams for his 90th birthday, Harrison dropped some details on the upcoming (but still untitled) Indiana Jones V.

Lucasfilm posted:

Ford would go on to reveal the forthcoming release date [June 30, 2023], explaining that “we have almost completed the next Indiana Jones film… I have had a wonderful experience working with James Mangold, with Kathy, with Frank. I am really proud of the movie that we made. So I’ll be seeing you on campus…”

One wonders if that was a “Professor Jones” quip, or if Ford is alluding to post-production work in Burbank.

Either way, we’re already a month closer to the return of Indiana Jones.
