The oft-promoted arena combat game will now hit small screens in 2023….
Apparently, if you are in Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan, this story doesn’t pertain to you. The “soft launch” of Star Wars: Hunters already occurred. However, the rest of the globe will have to wait until 2023.
This morning, the official Twitter handle posted:
We are working tirelessly to achieve our vision for Star Wars: Hunters. Our ambition is to create a competitive battle arena game that will entertain for years to come. To ensure we meet the high expectations we are setting for fans globally and ourselves as developers, we have made the decision to delay the worldwide launch of Star Wars: Hunters.

The Backlash
As you’d expect, some of the replies were pretty brutal.
One reply to the tweet said, “Anyone who has wanted to play the game already has. By means of android emulators and location spoofing. These are you’re core fans and players who have abandoned the game before a full release. Unless this game changes radically, people still aren’t going to play it. Too shallow.”
Another said, “Welp, time to move on to other games. I’m not playing this game for another year in it’s soft launch state lol.”
Still another said, “I’ve already lost interest lol.”
However, many of the replies lauded the company for not fully releasing a game that is not ready for general consumption.
That sentiment was best captured by one poster who tweeted, “While it’s unfortunate that the game can’t come out when planned, it’s ultimately better to take more time if needed. Less pressure on the game developers, and more time for the game to be the best it can be.”
Fair enough. And from a casual gamer’s standpoint, I am just hoping this is a modern, souped-up version of Star Wars Masters of Teras Kasi – heralded by some as the “worst fighting game” but a favorite of my button-mashing self back in the day.
I was very much hoping that my button-mashing self would be rewarded when the game finally deploys.

I, for one, plan on adopting J-3DI as my go to player.
