‘Descendants’ Spin-Off ‘The Pocketwatch’ to Begin Filming in September

A few months back, fans went crazy when Disney announced that they would be going back to the Descendants franchise withThe Pocketwatch. Well, the movie is expected to begin production very soon.

Filming on The Pocketwatch is scheduled to start September 5 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Vancouver has become a favorite place to film their projects, Disney+’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians is currently filming there, Peter Pan & Wendy also did some filming there, and The Spiderwick Chronicles is also schedule to film in the location in September.

In order to prevent an impending coup in Auradon – one that looms during the celebration of a new royal baby – Red, the whip-smart and rebellious teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts, must join forces with Chloe, the perfectionist and athletic daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, to travel in back in time, via the White Rabbit’s pocket watch, to the hostile unincorporated territory of Wonderland to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.

In addition to some of Disney’s classic songs, the film will include seven new songs. Jennifer Phang is set to direct and co-executive produce the film. It is unknown if characters from the Descendants franchise will appear, but the idea is that they will in some capacity. Casting is currently underway.

The fan-favorite Disney Channel Original Movies Descendants, Descendants 2, and Descendants 3, which are all available to stream on Disney+, rank as the top-rated cable movies among kids and tweens for 2015, 2017, and 2019, respectively. Each DCOM’s soundtrack reached the top spot on the Billboard chart, and the soundtracks for Descendants and Descendants 2 are gold-certified. Dove Cameron, the late Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson, and Booboo Stewart starred in the first three films, which were directed by Kenny Ortega. Boyce tragically passed away in July 2019.
