‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ winner Shea Couleé Joins Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’

Production is still underway on Marvel Studios’ Ironheart series and project is continuing to add surprising talent.

According to Deadline, RuPaul’s Drag Race’ winner Shea Couleé has joined the highly-anticipated Disney+ series. Details on who Couleé is playing is being kept under wraps at this time. They join a cast that includes Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, and Alden Ehrenreich.

Ironheart follows Riri Williams (Thorne), a teenage engineering genius at MIT who builds a suit based on Tony Stark’s Iron Man and dons the superhero name Ironheart. The character was created in 2016 by writers Brian Michael Bendis, and artist Mike Deodato, and later redesigned by Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda.

Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes are directing Ironheart from a script by Chinaka Hodge (Amazing Stories), who also serves as the head writer on the six-episode first season. Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler have also joined the team as executive producers alongside Kevin Feige, Louise D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout.

In 2020, Shea Couleé won the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Couleé later returned to compete on the all-winners seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in 2022. In 2016, Couleé co-produced, directed, wrote, and starred in Lipstick City. In 2017, Couleé released their debut EP, Couleé-D, along with accompanying music videos. Since then, Couleé has continued their musical career, starred in their own web series, podcast, and has embarked on domestic and international tours, including Werq the World, Haters Roast, and A Drag Queen Christmas.
