An Update on ‘National Treasure 3’

While filming is still underway on Disney+’s National Treasure series National Treasure: Edge of History, things are moving ahead on the third entry in the Nicolas Cage-led movie franchise.

While speaking with ComicBook.com, franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared an update on the untitled National Treasure 3, which is still being written. “Let’s hope we’re working on the script right now. Hopefully [Cage] likes it, but it’s really good. So I think we’ll get it to him shortly,” Bruckheimer told the outlet.

Back in March, Cage wasn’t so sure a third movie would happen with Disney+’s National Treasure: Edge of History currently filming a series set in the same universe as the movies, he mentioned that his phone stopped ringing for projects like National Treasure, Ghost Rider, and Sorcerers Apprentice. However, a Nicolas Cage resurgence has happened, his newest film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has been a hit with both critics and fans. Cage received critical praise for his performance in the indie drama, Pig. He is also attached to Universal’s newest monsterverse pic, Renfield.

The upcoming series focuses on a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Olivera), a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure. Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel reprise their roles as Riley Poole and Peter Sadusky from the two movies.
