It appears Disney has officially added Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon to their official Disney princess line-up.
Disney+ is taking part in World Princess Week, which kicks off on Monday, August 22, and will go through the 27th. A new teaser was released today featuring iconic Disney princesses like Ariel, Belle, Moana, Pocahontas, Merida, and Mulan. Raya is also prominently featured in the teaser, which can be seen below.
All of the titles shown in the video are of course now streaming on Disney+. You can check them all out in the Princesses Collection, as well as in the Female Leads Collection on the app.
Raya and the Last Dragon was released last year on Disney+ with Premier Access, when moviegoing was still trying to get back on its feet. Raya is a princess in the film, so it’s no surprise that she will now become an official Disney Princess. It is unknown if a Disney princess ceremony will take place for Raya as they did when Merida was added to the line-up.
Raya and the Last Dragon features an outstanding voice cast, including Kelly Marie Tran, Awkwafina, Izaac Wang, Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Benedict Wong, Jona Xiao, Sandra Oh, Thalia Tran, Lucille Soong, Alan Tudyk, Gordon Ip, Dichen Lachman, Patti Harrison, Jon “Dumbfoundead” Park, Sung Kang, Sierra Katow, Ross Butler, François Chau, and Paul Yen. Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada are directing, with Paul Briggs and John Ripa co-directing. Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho are the producers, and Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim wrote the screenplay.
