Uh-oh, looks like Marvel did an oopsie! In what was likely intended to be saved for an unspecified date, a now-deleted article on Marvel.com as well as various Latin American advertisements revealed that Thor: Love andThunder will be debuting on Disney+ in just a few weeks.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder sees Thor return to New Asgard after Gorr the God Butcher kidnaps a group of Asgardian children. While there, he learns that his old flame, Dr. Jane Foster, is the new wielder of Mjolnir, having become worthy of becoming The Mighty Thor.
The film received mixed reviews, with many praising the performances of Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson but criticised the inconsistent tone, hit-and-miss comedy, and occasionally dodgy visual effects. Despite this, the film has still managed to earn over $730 million at the worldwide box office, making it the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2022.
The date of Thor: Love and Thunder’s Disney+ debut has been speculated to be sometime in September due to Disney’s current 45-day cinema exclusivity deals, but it will be coming a little earlier than many have anticipated.
The film was unofficially revealed to be available from September 8th, also known as Disney+ Day. On the same day, we’ll also get to see Robert Zemeckis’ live-action remake of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks and Cynthia Erivo.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Christian Bale and Keiron L. Dyer, Thor: Love and Thunder is still in playing in select cinemas around the globe.
