On Thursday, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first look at Jamie Clayton as Pinhead in Hulu’s upcoming Hellraiser reimagining.
While speaking with the entertainment site, director David Bruckner has once again let the fans know “this is not a remake, I just didn’t think you could ever remake the original Hellraiser. It’s too much its own thing and it would be, I think, perilous territory for filmmakers, because how do you top that? This is a new story in the Hellraiser universe.”
Hellraiser hits the Disney-owned streamer October 7 and follows a young woman, who faces the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzle-box responsible for her brother’s disappearance. The film also stars Odessa A’zion, Brandon Flynn, Goran Višnjić, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds, Selina Lo, and Hiam Abbass.
Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski wrote the screenplay, with a draft from famed writer David Goyer. The film serves as a reboot of Clive Barker’s 1987 film of the same name and the eleventh installment overall of the Hellraiser franchise, the film will adhere closely to the source material novella by Barker, The Hellbound Heart. The project is a co-production between Spyglass Media Group and Phantom Four Films.
