Fans saw the evolution of Wanda Maximoff as she became the Scarlet Witch in the finale of WandaVision. She took center stage as the antagonist in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where we saw her unfortunate demise… or so we thought.
In a recent interview with Variety, Kevin Feige and Elizabeth Olsen shed some much-needed light regarding what the character’s future is in the Marvel cinematic universe moving forward. Olsen was hesitant to reveal anything too much, as we all know the strict policies Marvel Studios have on their actors and stories regarding future project saying “I really don’t know my future. There’s nothing that has been agreed on.” Feige was willing to reveal a little more.
“There really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics. I don’t know that we saw her under rubble? I saw a tower coming down, and a little red flash. I don’t know what that means.“
Kevin Feige
There have been numerous rumors regarding the character’s return. Feige’s cryptic comments support that. With Mutants slowly being introduced into the MCU and Wanda’s ties to them in the comics one would assume that Marvel wants to dive into that whether it’s on the big screen or on Disney+.
Two projects that make the most sense for her return are Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which features the return of Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness. In the comics, Agatha is a sort of mentor to the Scarlet Witch. There are also rumors swirling that Wanda’s sons Billy and Tommy will appear in the Disney+ series. Then there is Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to be a massive spectacle, which will once again bring all our favorite heroes together.
