‘Agatha: House of Harkness’ Will Shoot Next Year, Could See The Return Of Popular Young Avenger

Of all the Marvel/Disney+ series currently in development, Agatha: House of Harkness has been the one most shrouded in secrecy. Not only did fans expect to see the character return so soon, but they also didn’t expect to see her return in her own series.

Since being officially announced at last November’s Disney+ Day, small details have trickled in here and there. Originally, it was believed that the show would begin production later this year. There was also a rumor that a very popular comedic actress would be appearing alongside Kathryn Hahn titular character. Now, it seems we finally have some concrete production details.

Recently, industry insider Daniel Richtman got his hands on a production grid for the series. Not only does the grid confirm when casting finally begins, but it teases a mysterious “new-ish” character.

Officially, the grid states that the production will take place from January – May 2023. That’s not too far off from what we originally speculated, but it makes sense considering that’s a little over 6 months away and the series is still in the early stages of casting.

Speaking of casting, the show is look to fill the role of TYLER. He will be one the show’s leads. Although actors between the ages of 17-20 are encouraged to apply, the character is described as a White, American teen with a “formidable and dark sense of humor, incredibly witty, astute, and of the moment.” The character will also be a “fan-boy at times”, presumably of some potential other hero characters who may appear in the series. Most importantly, the character will be portrayed as he/him and gay.

Now, although the character’s name is Tyler, he matches the description of another character connected to both Agatha and Wanda, Billy Maximoff. While we’ve only seen Billy as a child in the MCU (both WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), in the comics the character is canonically gay. There is a possibility the character could be a wholly original one created for the series, but knowing that the twins have the ability to age themselves up and that the show will have a heavy focus on Agatha’s relationship with witchcraft really makes anything possible.

If, on the off-chance Tyler is Billy Maximoff, then there would be numerous other questions to answer. Firstly, how could he make it back to Earth 616? Secondly, what happened to Tommy? Honestly, the more I think about it, my brain hurts.

Nevertheless, we at least know two things about the series: when it starts shooting AND that casting is ramping up. We’ll continue to update you all as more details pour in over the next few months.

The series will be a dark comedy, though, additional story details are being kept under wraps. WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer, who has an overall deal with Disney and Marvel Studios, will serve as the writer and executive producer on the project. Peter Cameron, Laura Donney, and Cameron Squires, who all worked on WandaVision with Schaeffer, will also be a part of the Agatha: House of Harkness writing team.

It’ll be interesting to see where the studio plans to take this series, Agatha Harkness is an integral part of the comics and could be used to help set up the Dark Avengers, something that has been long rumored for the MCU. The character has also gained more popularity at the Disneyland Resort, being a meet-and-greet character at last year’s Oogie Boogie Bash.

All 8 episodes of WandaVision are currently streaming on Disney+.
