Sonia Denis Join Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’

Writer-actress Sonia Denis (Birdgirl) is the newest talent to join the cast of Marvel Studios Disney+ series Ironheart, Variety has learned.

Denis joins Dominique Thorne, who plays the titular hero and Anthony Ramos, who plays Parker Robbins aka The Hood, an ally of Williams’s who dons a hood that allows him to tap in to dark arts and magic. The series also stars Lyric Ross, Harper Anthony, Manny Montana, Alden Ehrenreich, Shea Couleé, Zoe Terakes, Regan Aliyah, Shakira Barrera, and Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola have been cast in undisclosed roles. Denis’ role is also being kept under wraps.

The series follows Genius teenage inventor Riri Williams (Thorne), who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. The character and her tech will make their MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which hit theaters this November.

Sonia Denis is a New York-based comedian. Her stand-up can be described as idiosyncratic, frenetic and another cool adjective. Sonia was named one of Vulture’s Comics to Watch. Sonia co-starred in the Emmy-nominated web series Brown Girls and has also appeared on Adult Swim’s BIRDGIRL, HBO’s High Maintenance, Netflix’s Bojack Horseman, and The New Negroes on Comedy Central.
