Over the last few weeks it seems as if Sister Act 3 has been gaining a considerable amount of momentum.
First Tyler Perry revealed that a script was almost finished. Then Keke Palmer very publicly confirmed her interest in the project. This week, however, Sister Mary Clarence herself provided a promising update on the film, as well as who her personal co-stat wishlist.
While appearing on Comedy Central’s Hell of a Week, Whoopi Goldberg explained candidly confirmed that the film is still in active development and that she expects to receive a script “by the end of the month.”
And when asked by host Charlamagne tha God who she would like to see appear in the film beside her, the Academy Award-winner said, “I want everybody to come. I want everybody.”
Not only did she name-drop Keke Palmer, but she also said she’d like to see Lizzo in the film as well as “the girl with the chest.”
She later clarifies that “the girl with the chest” is none other Nicki Minaj.
“I want as many people who want to have some fun [in this] because I really desperately need to have some fun,” she said. “Hopefully, we’ll get it done sooner rather than later.”
Tim Federle (Ferdinand, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) is currently attached to direct the project with Madhuri Shekar (The Nevers) writing the script. Goldberg will produce alongside Tyler Perry, Tom Leonardis.
