November 5, 2022Jordan Simmons

The Multiverse Saga is well underway in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which kicked off in 2021 with Spider-Man: No Way Home. As many of you will recall, No Way Home united Tom Holland with the previous big-screen incarnations of the Spidey with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles from their respective franchises.

Of course, No Way Home isn’t the only Spider-Verse movie we’ve seen. In 2018, Sony released its feature-length animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which saw Miles Morales team up with five other Spider-Heroes including Spider-Woman and Peter Porker. The film was a huge success winning the OSCAR, BAFTA, and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.

Two sequels are currently on the way with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse set for release on June 2nd, 2023. Across the Spider-Verse will have Miles Morales explore six universes and encounter multiple Spider-Heroes including Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099 in an expanded role.

The Cosmic Circus has exclusively revealed that the PlayStation Spider-Man and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man are both set to appear in the sequel. They could not confirm whether Holland would be reprising his role but they have been told that the character is the same version as the one we’ve grown to love in the MCU.

As for the PlayStation Spider-Man, Cosmic Circus confirmed that he will also be the same version as the one in the 2018 game. They also believe that it’s likely Yuri Lowenthal will reprise his role in the film. The game was already referenced in the first Spider-Verse movie with the main suit appearing among Peter Parker’s many Spider-Man suits.

13 Spider-Man variants are set to appear in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with Peter B. Parker, Spider-Man Noir, Gwen Stacy’s Spider-Woman, and Spider-Man 2099 all returning from the first film. Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman (voiced by Issa Rae) and Takuya Yamashiro (from the 1978 Japanese Spider-Man series) were both confirmed by the filmmakers, and Spider-Punk and Cyborg Spider-Woman were confirmed via toy leaks. The first trailer also hinted at the appearance of Pavitr Prabhakar from the Spider-Man: India comics.

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are also said to make cameo appearances although The Cosmic Circus could not confirm whether they would appear in Across or Beyond the Spider-Verse. The same is said for Josh Keaton’s Spectular Spider-Man and Christopher Daniel Barnes’ 90s Animated Spider-Man.
