Ready or Not was a suprise hit for Fox Searchlight Pictures. Now, Disney owns the studio and the rights to the property and they are moving forward on a sequel.
According to The InSneider, Searchlight Pictures is moving forward with Ready or Not 2. The newsletter says that Samara Weaving is expected to return. Additionally, the studio has tapped Escape Room and Insidious: The Last Key director Adam Robitel to direct.
Released in 2019 and directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (2/3 of Radio Silence, the first film follows a young bride (Weaving) who is hunted by her spouse’s wealthy Satan-worshipping family as part of a wedding night ritual. The film also starred Andie MacDowell, Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Melanie Scrofano, Henry Czerny and Elyse Levesque
The film was a box office success, grossing $57.6 million worldwide against a $6 million budget. It was nominated for Best Horror Film at the 46th Saturn Awards.
