Back in 2021, reports surfaced that Marvel Studios would dive into the world of mutants with an X-MEN reboot titled The Mutants. Since then there has been no update, until today.
According to listing in Production Weekly, Marvel Studios is looking to begin filming on the project sometime in late 2025. This means the soonest we could see the X-MEN in their own movie on the big screen again is 2027 at the earliest. As of now, the studio has yet to officially announce the project and if true an announcement would likely come during the D23 Ultimate fan event this Summer.
Fans have been waiting for this announcement since the Disney/Fox merger. We already have The Fantastic Four making their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. X-MEN 97 is currently streaming to rave reviews and we have already seen Patrick Stewart cameo as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That said, multiple X-MEN character are appearing in the highly-anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine out this July.
