Now that Mickey Mouse [Steamboat Willie] production companies are developing horror movies surrounding the character, which comes on the heels of the financial success of Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its recent sequel. Now, it is Oswald’s turn.

According to Deadline, Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson has signed on to star in the new horror film Oswald Down the Rabbit Hole. Hudson is set to portray Oswald Jebediah Coleman, an exceptionally talented animator thrust into a frigid, mystical penitentiary. Describing the storyline, it chronicles Oswald’s century-long confinement, during which his animated rabbit creation transforms into a terrifying, bloodthirsty entity.

Per the trade, the film follows the main character, Art, portrayed by Topher Hall. Art is the grandson of Hudson’s Oswald. When Art and his brother, Evan, portrayed by Yasha Rayzberg — who studied for two years at The Ruskin School of Acting and worked with Seinfeld and Arli$$ writer Sam Henry Kass — go on a journey to track down his family lineage, it quickly turns into a bloodcurdling nightmare. They are transported to a place lost in time, shrouded by dark Hollywood magic.

Filming is expected to begin in the coming months with the hopes of an early 2025 release. The budget is around $4.5 million similar to Blood and Honey. Lilton Stewart III is taking the helm as director, while Lucinda Bruce is serving as the producer for the project.
