It’s been a weird week for Disney news, not much has come out but a lot of leaks from Marvel and the theme parks have surfaced. Well, it’s another week of mailbag, so let’s get into your questions this week, which include Wish, Mickey Mouse, and 2D animation.

Do you see Disney doing more projects with ‘Wish’ in the future despite the movie’s mixed reception?

You know, Wish was a middle-of-the-pack film from Disney Animation in my personal opinion, I know loads of people who enjoyed it and I love that for them. However, outside of theme park appearances, Disney won’t be revisiting this movie with a sequel anytime soon.

Is the live-action Tarzan you teased before still happening down the line?

That was so long ago, at this point, I don’t believe it is happening. Like Hunchback of Notre Dame, I think Disney is going to pass for the foreseeable future.

Are Disney planning on doing a theatrical Mickey Mouse movie for his 100th birthday? Or are they hesitant after the mixed reception of ‘Wish’?

There have been rumors of Mickey Mouse coming to the big screen for years now. I have always been told that was never happening. It makes sense, imagine the face of the biggest company in the world gets his own big-screen film and it were to bomb, Disney does not want to put their beloved mouse through that situation.

Because of Mark Henn retiring and other hand-drawn trainees got laid off, is this the end of hand-drawn animation at Disney forever?

This is a question I get every so often and typically I have to disappoint you guys with no information. Well, I hear Disney is doing a new movie with hand-drawn animation, I can’t talk about everything I know yet, but hopefully closer to D23 this Summer.

That’s all for this week, stay tuned as every Thursday a new DisInsider Mailbag will drop. Follow me on Twitter, where I will drop a link if you would like your question from the world of Disney answered in a future article.
