Whether you’re an adult or child, chances are you’ve heard about Bluey. If it’s not the most popular children’s show on Earth, it’s surely on its way to becoming it.
So you can only imagine that there are plenty of groups trying to take advantage of the show’s popularity. Last weekend, a Las Vegas restaurant did exactly that.
It all started when a restaurant by the name of Dirt Dog promoted a “Bluey” meet-and-greet on its Facebook account.

Rather than meet any of the characters, or people appropriately dressed as the characters, families who attended were met with extreme disappointment.

In a video obtained by FOX5 Vegas, you can see that the restaurant did not put in any effort into the event. There was no attempt to even provide adequate costumes. In fact, those dressed up look like they were wearing homemade Bluey cosplay. And, per many of those who attended, there was not even a sufficient amount food or favors.
“It was completely chaos, the Bluey [wasn’t] even a costume…. it’s a dude in pajamas. They ran out of snacks by 1130,” commented one person on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Some attendees also revealed that the event was especially disappointing because they were forced to wait in the sun before it began. All just discover that there was only one character, dressed in a onesie, that another Facebook user described as a “Temu Bluey costume.”
The restaurant was very quick to issue an apology via its Instagram account, but by then it was too late.
“We are truly sorry this event wasn’t the expected experience,”the post reads. It adds that the site was “overwhelmed” with the turnout.
The event comes just months after a mysterious event in Glasgow, advertised under the guise that it was connected to the Willy Wonka films, went insanely viral for similar reasons.
Now, Disney, ABC (the Australian Broadcasting Corporation) or BBC have yet to comment on this event, but it does not appear to have been put on with their permission.
So far, it seems like no legal action has been taken – or will be taken either. Stay tuned for more updates.
Since launching in Australia in 2018, “Bluey” has gained millions of fans around the world, widely lauded for its heartfelt and funny portrayal of family life and celebration of play. The series follows Bluey, a loveable and inexhaustible Blue Heeler dog who lives with her Mum, Dad and little sister, Bingo.
