Filming has officially begun on 20th Century Studios’ untitled movie-centered Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd. Today, the studio unveiled the first look at star Lily James as Wolfe Herd.
According to Deadline, the studio has also announced that the film will debut on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in other regions in 2025. Alongside this news, 20th Century Studios also revealed several new cast members: Ben Schnetzer (3 Body Problem), Ian Colletti (The Hot Zone), Mary Neely (Happiness for Beginners), Ana Yi Puig (Goosebumps), Aidan Laprete (The Wilds), Pedro Correa (The Greatest Beer Run Ever), and Coral Peña (Thelma).
Currently being filmed in Los Angeles, the movie about Herd’s life and career will also feature Myha’la, Jackson White, Dan Stevens, and Pierson Fode, as previously announced. The plot remains somewhat ambiguous, described as loosely inspired by Herd’s experiences rather than a precise recounting. Herd, who famously launched the online dating platform Bumble after co-founding and leaving Tinder, became one of the youngest self-made billionaires at 31 when Bumble went public in 2021. Although she stepped down as CEO last year, the app remains popular among singles.
Rachel Lee Goldenberg is directing the Bumble movie from a script she co-wrote with Bill Parker and Kim Caramele. The film is being produced by James, Jennifer Gibgot, and Andrew Panay through their Ethea Entertainment, with Gala Gordon and Bob Dohrmann serving as executive producers. Sarah Shepard is overseeing the project for 20th Century Studios.
