Marvel Studios, very long in development Blade has hit yet another snag in the development process.
According to TheWrap, Marvel Studios has parted ways with director Yann Demange. Per the trade the Demange left the project a while ago and the split was amicable. This marks the second director to depart the project following Bassem Tariq over a year ago.
Eric Pearson is currently working on a new script. Pearson recently wrote Marvel Studios Fantastic Four. Previously, both Michael Starburry and Nic Pizzolatto have worked on the script since, though Pizzolatto barely got a chance to make a dent in the story before last year’s writers strike began. So the film has had quite a rough development process.
After making his MCU debut vocally in Eternals, Mahershala Ali will star in the film. The role was previously and famously played by Wesley Snipes in the 2000’s trilogy and Sticky Fingaz in a very short lived series on Spike TV.
The film is currently slated for a November 2025, which will ultimately be moved back to 2026 when Disney updates it’s theatrical release schedule.
