Looks like Dwayne Johnson is staying with the Disney family for years to come.
According to Variety, Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia’s production banner Seven Bucks Productions has signed a brand new first-look deal with The Walt Disney Company. The deal allows them to develop new theatrical and streaming films.
The projects may serve as potential opportunities for Johnson to take on starring roles. Notably, the agreement extends beyond just filmed content. Although specific details have not been revealed, the trade has reported that the multi-year deal will allow Seven Bucks to partner with all Disney divisions, which would include Disney Animation, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney+, Pixar, and 20th Century/Searchlight.
The new deal would also fast-track a sequel to Jungle Cruise, which was in the very early stages of development over a year ago.
For Disney, Dwayne Johnson has portrayed Joe Kingman in the 2007 sports comedy film The Game Plan and Jack Bruno in the 2009 sci-fi thriller film remake Race to Witch Mountain. He also voiced Maui in the 2016 Disney animated feature film Moana and played Frank Wolff in Jungle Cruise, which Seven Bucks produced. He will reprise his role as Maui in Moana 2. Additionally, he will produce and star in the live-action Moana remake in 2026.
