It’s a strange time to be a Marvel fan. One of the best things to come from the franchise turned out to be the recently released animated revival of X-Men. And we are only getting one feature film this year. But believe it or not, things are about to get a lot more strange… Dr. Strange to be exact.
In a video uploaded to YouTube early Friday, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the character in the MCU revealed that his character would be returning to the big screen a lot soon than people realize.
Over the course of the 7 minute video, in which the actor breaks down all of his roles to date, he stated that he looks forward to returning as the character in Avengers – next year.
This seemingly confirms that not only will Dr. Strange be at the forefront of the next Avengers entry, but the film will begin production sometime in 2025.

Now, unfortunately that’s all the info the actor did provide. But it makes sense that the next ensemble film would be ramping up production soon given that it was initially revealed to be releasing in 2025.
Given that the only film still in pre-production is Blade – Fantastic Four should be ramping up in the coming weeks – we anticipate more news to come about the MCU’s future theatrical slate either at San Diego Comic-Con or D23. That includes who the potential director(s) will be.
