Inside Out 2 continues to dominate at the box office this weekend and is already in the top 10 highest grossing Pixar movies of all time.
The film, gross a record breaking $100 million domestically and $164.4 million overseas in its second weekend to finish Sunday with $724.4 million in its second weekend at the box office.The film is also highest grossing movie of 2024, passing Dune Part II.
In the sequel, teenager Riley’s mind headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.
Directed by Kelsey Mann, the film stars Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan reprise their roles from the first film, with Maya Hawke, Kensington Tallman, Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Ayo Edebiri, Lilimar, Grace Lu, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Walter Hauser joining the cast.
A television series based on Inside Out is in development at Pixar. Soul co-writer Mike Jones will develop the series. The series, titled Dream Productions, will premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
