It’s been a minute since Sam Raimi put on his horror hat. Thanks to 20th Century Studios, that’s about to change.
Per Deadline, the director has closed a deal to direct a brand new horror thriller for the studio. While the deal is still pending, the outlet reports that the film is titled Send Help, and it’s reminiscent of Stephen King’s Misery and Robert Zemeckis’ Cast Away.
The film is reportedly based on an original script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Baywatch).
This isn’t the first time Raimi has teamed with Disney, as his last film with the media giant was for its subsidiary Marvel Studios, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He also directed Oz: The Great and The Powerful in 2013.
While the director has produced a handful of cult horror films throughout the years, this marks the first time behind the camera since 2009’s Drag Me To Hell.
It’s unclear when the film will begin shooting, but it’s expected to have a theatrical release.
