Fans had already suspected that The Mandalorian and Grogu would hit theaters in 2026, but that info was confirmed Friday evening during the main entertainment showcase at D23.
What did come as a surprise, however, was the announcement that the project had already begun filming two weeks ago.
That’s not all! According to leaked footage from the film’s teaser, it appears that fan-favorite character Babu Frik will appear in the film.
Currently, plot details are scarce but the one thing that is known is that Favreau is directing. Sigourney Weaver also has an unknown role in the film.
The film is set to be the first theatrical Star Wars project since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. It will also be the first theatrical movie based off a Disney+ series.
The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters in May 2026.
