‘Spider-Man’ & ‘Skeleton Crew’ Director Jon Watts Signs First-Look Deal With Disney

Hot off three Spider-Man films in the MCU and the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series Skeleton Crew, director/producer Jon Watts and his production banner Freshman Year have signed a first-look deal with Walt Disney Studios.

According to Deadline, as part of the agreement, Watts will helm full-length films for Disney’s live-action division and 20th Century Studios, with the possibility to also serve as a producer.

Watts has a strong connection with Disney, he is also an Executive Producer for the FX series The Old Man, starring Jeff Bridges. Additionally, Watts is the creator and Executive Producer of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, a limited series for Lucasfilm set to premiere on Disney+ on December 3, 2024.

“I’ve already had an incredible experience working with Alan Bergman, Kathy Kennedy, Kevin Feige and the rest of the Disney team and I’m thrilled to now be partnering with the brilliantly creative David Greenbaum. David has exceptional taste and deep filmmaking knowledge and I’m excited to work with him and his team to create memorable, director-driven theatrical experiences.” -Watts
