The iconic Star Wars Skywalker saga is continuing… maybe!
According to Deadline, Simon Kinberg (X-Men franchise) closed a deal to develop a trilogy of Star Wars films. Kinberg will write the trio, and produce them with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy.
Per the trade, this trilogy will be episodes 10 through 12 of the Skywalker saga. However, there are other insiders who are saying that this trilogy is in fact a new standalone trilogy set apart from the Skywalker saga. As of now, it is a waiting game until Lucasfilm officially announces anything.
Lucasfilm has multiple big screen projects in the works from big name talent including directors James Mangold, Shawn Levy, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover.
For Disney, Kinberg created the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels. He also produced the 2015 live-action remake of Cinderella and the 21st Century Fox films Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants. In addition, he was a creative consultant on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He also served as an executive producer on the 2024 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Deadpool & Wolverine.
