There have been rumors that a new Cars project could be in the works at Disney/Pixar. Well, thanks to a leaked D23 Brazil survey, it looks like the studio is already developing Cars 4.

The survey (via @AlmanaqueDisney) asked fans which project they’re most looking forward to at the Disney-centric convention. Surprisingly, Cars 4 was listed among the movies. There have been whispers that it was supposed to be announced this past weekend during the animation panel during Disney’s D23 Expo in Brazil but was held off.

Disney/Pixar obviously knows that returning to beloved franchises works. 2023’s Inside Out 2 is Pixar’s highest-grossing film of all-time making $1.6 billion worldwide. Box office tracking for Moana 2 already has the sequel surpassing Inside Out 2, which would be monumental for The Walt Disney Company as they try to return to box office dominance of 2019. Frozen 3, Frozen 4, Toy Story 5, Incredibles 3, Zootopia 2, and a new Nemo project are all in the works.

The Cars on the Road series on Disney+ was well-received, showing that there’s ongoing interest in the world of Cars. Not to mention, the company is developing new Cars attractions for their theme parks and the franchise is hugely profitable due to merchandise sales, particularly among young audiences. Toys, clothing, and themed merchandise associated with Cars bring in substantial revenue.
