Talk about a “whole new world”…
The Walt Disney Company has announced a seventh destination amusement park. Fans can add Abu Dhabi to their list of Disney locations to visit because that’s where the park will be developed.
More specifically, it will be located on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, more than 8,000 miles away from Anaheim, California – the site of the first Disneyland that opened 70 years ago.
CEO Bob Iger made the historic announcement on ABC’s Good Morning America early today, describing it as “the most technologically advanced theme park that we’ve ever built.”
“I am excited for the UAE and Abu Dhabi. Bringing a Disneyland to a land in the world is, I think, a big deal and it makes a big statement and it’s just a great moment,” Iger added.
It’s unclear when ground will break on the project, but Iger says the company hopes to work on it and complete it “as fast as possible.”
This is a breaking story, so stay tuned for more updates as they become available!
