Part of the existing Hollywood Backlot will be converted into the world of Pandora. This initiative is still in its initial development phase, and more information, including timelines for construction, will be provided in the future.
Sadly, to make way for the experience fan favorite attraction Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in early 2026.
During a 2023 earnings call, it was announced that Pandora – World of Avatar will be making its way to California in some form. At the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, attendees were treated to a glimpse of a model and concept art, alongside the exciting reveal of a new boat ride.
Imagine a stunning aerial view of a vibrant, otherworldly island that captures the essence of Avatar, featuring soaring spiral rock formations, cascading waterfalls, sparkling blue pools, and lush greenery. You can see pathways and buildings that harmoniously blend into the breathtaking natural surroundings.
This new ride and its environment will draw inspiration from “Avatar: The Way of Water” and future installments of the series. However, it will offer a distinct experience compared to the existing Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
