Hey everyone, I know it has been awhile but as what happens to everyone life gets in the way but we are back and this week’s mailbag is short and sweet.
Welcome back! What’s about Tangled live action remake? is it possible the movie will be back from the pause after the succes of Lilo and Stitch?
When reports surfaced that Tangled was put on hold it was my understanding it was a precautionary move. As far as I know the movie is still in the works. Of course, now that Lilo & Stitch is nearing $1 billion at the worldwide box office we could see Disney fast track the project again.
I’m scared to ask this but is there anything at all brewing with Hocus Pocus 3? I wish they’d announce officially if it’s happening or not.
While Disney has yet to confirm a third movie, the studio definitly has one on the drawing board but at this time there is no script or director attached.
Is Paul King’s Charming movie still in development?
It is still in the works and is expected to begin filming January/February next year.
Is there any truth to the rumors of a Ratatouille 2 in the works?
This rumor kind of came out of nowhere. Our team was at the Pixar event a couple of weeks ago in New York and from what we have gathered from speaking with Pixar, this rumor is not true. That does not mean one can not come in the future but at this time a sequel is not currently “in the works”.
Glad to have the mailbags back. Any insight on unannounced sequels Pixar could have in the works? Finding Nemo? Monsters, Inc? Thank you.
Funny enough, I was first to inform people via an old mailbag that Pixar was working on The Incredibles 3 and a couple months later it was confirmed at D23. When I first got word they were working on Incredibles 3 I was also told they were developing another sequel, which I was led to believe was a new Cars or Nemo project, which could be the case but also could’ve been Coco 2, which has since been confirmed.
I heard the disney live action Hercules movie will focus more on hades, is this true and is the movie still in development.
This project has gone through some creative struggles both from the studio side and the creatives side. While a retooled Hercules story was the route the creatives wanted to go, the studio has decided the direction they will go is a faithful adaptation of the animated film, which you can thank the success of Lilo & Stitch for.
I would like to know about Cruella 2, Aladdin 2, Maleficent 3, The Jungle Book 2, Prince Charming, Queen of Hearts, Snow Queen and other live action movies.
Aladdin 2, Maleficent 3, Jungle Book 2, and Queen of Hearts have been shelved. Snow Queen, which was on the drawing board years ago will end up being a faithful Frozen remake, which is definitly on Disney’s radar. As for Cruella 2, Disney wants to do it and the creatives want to return but everyone’s schedule is pretty busy at the moment.
As soon as I saw the concept art for Elio and then the first trailer, I was convinced this movies wouldn’t convince many people to watch it. It looked convencional, unimaginative and the new Pixar character designs aren’t very appealing either. I believe in Docter but he has to keep a tighter leash. Are they going to be more selective when it comes to new non-sequel films and are the budgets going to be 150 million or less?
Let me start by saying, I have been warning people that Elio was headed towards disaster. In fact, when the movie shifted release dates and retooled the story, director, and voice talent it mirrored exactly what had happened with The Good Dinosaur. That said, Docter is not at fault here, he was brought a good story and idea and he wanted to share it, things happen, sometimes good, other times not so much.
Are there any early plans for what’s next in the Indiana Jones franchise?
Lucasfilm is letting the franchise rest for a bit before they do a full reboot of the franchise. I would expect the studio to announce something next year at the D23 Expo because even though the last film tanked at the box office, Indiana Jones is still an iconic IP and Disney/Lucasfilm do not want to waste that.
