At today’s D23 Expo, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced a new original feature called Hexed, slated for November 2026.
Jared Bush, the studio’s chief creative officer, unveiled the title and logo at the presentation held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The film is directed by Josie Trinidad (Zootopia+) and Jason Hand (Moana 2), with Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones producing.
Hexed follows an awkward teenage boy whose odd traits turn out to be genuine magical powers; when his driven, Type-A mother becomes involved, their lives — and a secret realm of magic — are thrown into upheaval.
Bush said the film mixes humor, awe, and heartfelt moments. He explained it celebrates the specialness of being different and the way families come together around that. Early concept art and the animated title sequence hint at a vivid, fantastical look, echoing the visual spirit of recent Disney originals such as Encanto and Raya and the Last Dragon.
