Veronica Rodriguez Tapped to Direct ‘Camp Rock 3’

Over the last few weeks the internet has been buzzing over the reports of Camp Rock 3. While the news has yet to be confirmed Disney, we continue to receive information on the project.

We have learned Veronica Rodriguez (The Slumber Party) has signed on to direct the newest entry in the musical franchise.

The movie has executive producer Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) overseeing with a script from Fuller House writer Eydie Faye. While unconfirmed at this time it is rumored that Kasey Bella Suarez (Your Monster) and Jensen Gerning (Erin & Aaron) will lead the film as Sage and Max.

Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas are expected to return, and while some have said Demi Lovato will likely not return, I have heard from people I trust that Demi is expected to appear in some capacity, whether that means cameo or something larger, remains to be seen.

Production is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

The original Camp Rock was directed by Matthew Diamond and stars Lovato and Joe Jonas as a couple of teens who attend a camp for talented artists and fall in love. The sequel , The Final Jam, follows the same cast of young performers as they try to fend off the rival Camp Star from taking over Camp Rock – or worse, forcing it to close down forever.

As for Rodriguez, she is best known for directing The Slumber Party, which believe it or not is a Hangover remake tailored for teens. The Slumber Party was nominated for Outstanding Fiction Special at the 3rd Children’s and Family Emmy Awards.
