Ever since Mickey Mouse (Steamboat Willie) went into the public domain, smaller studios have quickly taken advantage of the opportunity with horror themed movies around the well know mouse. Now, it’s Minnie’s turn.
According to Bloody Disgusting, the film titled Minnie’s Midnight Massacre, is set for a February 24 digital release.
After being trapped for two decades in a mouse-infested storm shelter following a cruel bullying prank, a now-grown Minnie is finally unleashed. Consumed by years of isolation and rage, she tracks down her former tormentors during their lakeside camping retreat.
The indie is being developed by ITN, the team behind Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Peter’s Neverland Nightmare.
Directed by Brett Bentman, the film stars Hannah Hueston, Cliff Dean, and Indira Starr, and Tiffany McDonald. Derrick Redford of Redford Films and Tiffany McDonald of B22 Films produce.
This the third horror project following the Mickey Mouse horror films The Mouse Trap and Screamboat, which starred Terrifiers David Howard Thornton. Both films have sequels in the works and according to Bloody Disgusting Screamboat 2 will also feature Minnie Mouse.
