Director Jonathan Levine is stepping away from his usual comedy field and jumping into the world of horror… okay, well kind of.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The 50/50 director has been tapped to direct Horrorstör, based on the comedic horror novel by Grady Hendrix, which has been in various stages of development since 2014. Disney’s Searchlight Pictures recently secured the rights.
The film is being produced by Brian Oliver representing New Republic, Gillian Bohrer on behalf of Megamix, Adam Goldworm from Aperture Entertainment, along with Brad Fischer. Additionally, Hendrix is on board as a producer.
Richard Ruiz, Searchlight Pictures’ VP of Production, and production executive Apolline Berty are supervising the project for the studio, under the leadership of heads of production and development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
