Hulu is continuing its run of adapting novels into what they hope to be are hit series for their service.
According to Deadline, Hulu is adapting the upcoming novel from Practical Magic author Alice Hoffman The Witches of Cambridge into a drama series. Noah Hawley’s 26 Keys production banner will produce.
Per the trade, the will follow two brilliant young women in 1950s Cambridge, Massachusetts, as they become immersed in a mysterious secret group of witches at Radcliffe known as the Lilith Society.
The project is apart of Noah Hawley’s overall deal with Disney Entertainment Television. His biggest successes were working on the FX TV shows Fargo, Legion, and Alien: Earth. The latter series, he also cameos as Joe and Marcy’s father.
Up next for Hawley is he is developing a series on FX based on the hit video game franchise Far Cry.
As for Hoffman, she is developing The Witches of Cambridge into a multi-novel series, which Hulu plans to adapt if season one is successful. This comes on the heels of Practical Magic 2 hitting theaters this Summer. It should be noted, in 2020 Hoffman released a third novel in the “Practical Magic” series, a prequel titled Magic Lessons.
