Hold on to your hats, brooms and candles, people because the witches are back!
Deadline exclusively reported that Hocus Pocus 3 is officially in development with the leading trio, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprising their roles as the Sanderson Sisters.
Hocus Pocus 3 has been confirmed way back in 2023 by Sean Bailey, former President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production with Anne Fletcher returning to direct and Jen D’Angelo writing the script.
After Bailey left his position in 2024, the third installment has been in development for the past couple of years with rewrites and negotiations for Midler, Parker and Najimy.
Now it’s been announced that House Pocus 3 is moving forward but no plot details has revealed as of now.
Hocus Pocus 2, directed by Anne Fletcher was the previous installment of the series that released on Disney+ in September 30, 2022.
The first film directed by Kenny Ortega was released in theaters in July 16, 1993.
Original cast members of the first film, Thora Birch, Omri Katz, and Vanessa Shaw have expressed on wanting to return to the franchise.
This third film will officially get a theatrical release but no date has been scheduled yet.
With D23 Expo coming this Summer, we should hopefully get more information along with more casting announcements and plot details.
