Marvel Studios’ ‘Ghost Rider’ and ‘Black Panther 3’ are coming!

It’s Comic Con weekend at San Diego, California where thousands of fans gather at Hall H to see some exclusive footage and what Marvel Studios have in store for their future slate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

CEO of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige enters the stage sporting a new baseball cap with Doctor Doom front and centered. He teased that Disney+ series VisionQuest, will be the end of the Wanda trilogy and arriving on October 3rd but said that he would rather focus on the movies. Guarantee that we’ll know more about the upcoming MCU series at D23.

For attendees exclusively, they showcased a fight sequence between Spider-Man and Punisher as Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be arriving next week worldwide in theaters July 31st.

Half of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday showed up to show some footage to the fans in Hall H and Hayley Atwell will return as Agent Peggy Carter and Ryan Reynolds showing up as Deadpool but in denim form.

One of the first biggest news is that Project Hail Mary star Ryan Gosling will be playing Ghost Rider, a human who transforms into a flaming skeletal superhuman which is also the self-titled movie. It will be directed by Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and expected to release in theaters in 2028. This will be their second collaboration having the first being Star Wars: Starfighter which is set to release next year on May 28.

Ryan Coogler will return to direct Black Panther 3 with Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson cast to play T’Challa’s son who was teased in a post-credit scene in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with Nakia, T’Challa’s girlfriend, played by Lupita Nyong’o introduced him to his aunt Shuri, who’s currently, the Black Panther and will reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday. A release date is set for December 15, 2028. It’s also been teased that it will be shot on IMAX 70mm, making it the first Marvel film to do so. Both Letitia Wright and Winston Duke will come back as Shuri and M’Baku, plus it’s been confirmed that two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington will join the film.

Since Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away from cancer in August 2020, Marvel Studios announced that they will not recast T’Challa who he played in Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, and both Avengers films, Infinity War and Endgame. They ended up killing off the character in the sequel Wakanda Forever as a way to honor Boseman and in the film, it was revealed that he had a son named Toussaint aka T’Challa Jr. with Nakia, secretly and Queen Ramonda did know about it with Nakia raising him. Since he was kid in that film, it looks like the MCU is gonna age him quickly which will happen after Secret Wars.

Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3 are the only big announcements from Comic Con which to keep in mind, Marvel Studios is taking their time with their projects after the divisive reception of the whole Multiverse Saga from both critics and audiences which led them to take their time to focus on projects that are moving forward.

So no X-Men news or Secret Wars, which is expected to start filming next month, but who’s to say we won’t get any news next month at D23 for either of those projects? We shall see.
