‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Swings to Record-Breaking $72 Million in Previews, Shattering MCU History

Spider-Man is proving that superhero fatigue is nowhere to be found.

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially smashed the all-time preview box office record, earning an incredible $72 million before its official opening day. The milestone surpasses the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame, which earned $60 million in preview screenings back in 2019.

The massive preview haul puts Tom Holland’s fourth solo Spider-Man adventure on track for one of the biggest domestic openings in cinematic history. Industry projections now have the film targeting a $260–280 million opening weekend in North America, with some forecasts suggesting it could climb even higher if weekend attendance continues at its current pace.

Brand New Day marks Holland’s return as Peter Parker following the emotional conclusion of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the world forgot his identity. The latest installment follows Peter as he navigates adulthood while protecting New York and facing dangerous new threats, alongside a cast that includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando.

The record-breaking start is another major victory for Marvel Studios and Sony, signaling that Spider-Man remains one of the most powerful box office brands in the world. After months of anticipation, fan demand has translated into packed theaters and unprecedented preview numbers, setting the stage for what could become one of the highest-grossing superhero openings ever.

With the summer movie season already enjoying strong momentum, Spider-Man: Brand New Day appears poised to give theaters their biggest weekend of the year—and perhaps rewrite the record books once again before the weekend is over.
