First Look And New Story Details For CAPTAIN MARVEL
Hot off the cosmic presses! This just in, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. A first look and story details have been revealed for Marvel Studios Captain Marvel.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the film will take place in the mid 1990s and will feature a young Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson); with both eyes intact! Also, the exclusive reports that the film will forego with the classic origin story trope, and will feature Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) already having her powers and part of an Elite Kree military team; known as Starforce, which will be led by Commander Mar-Vel (Jude Law). This is not the first time we have seen the Kree in the MCU, previously the alien race was featured heavily in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) with the character Ronan (Lee Pace) as a member of the Kree race; the character is also rumored to appear in Captain Marvel.

We also received information on how Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) will be portrayed, and her personality.
“She can’t help but be herself,” Larson tells EW. “She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw.”
Hearing that Carol will have a somewhat gun-hoe type of attitude is all but too promising to this writer. If familiar with the comics, Carol Danvers is known to be prone to rash decisions that can sometimes get her in trouble, that she tends to punch her way out of. She knows discipline being an Air-Force pilot, but she also knows how to joke around from time to time. Courtesy of Director Anna Boden.
“This is not a superhero who’s perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection,” says Boden to EW, who’s the MCU’s first female director. “But what makes her special is just how human she is. She’s funny, but doesn’t always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn’t always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity — and all of its messiness.”.
Though Carol is flawed and strong, she must put all her powers into affect to defeat her foe; the Skrulls led by their fearsome leader Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). The Skrulls are a formidable alien race that has invaded earth and that can shape-shift and absorb the memories and powers of anyone they abduct. This truly makes them a feared and powerful enemy to our super-heroine, the Skrulls also made their imprint on Marvel comics history during the comic even Secret Invasion. In which most of the Marvel Universe’s superheroes and important figures were abducted and replaced with Skrulls, leaving a mindset of “Who do you trust?” With this in mind, maybe some of our Marvel heroes in the MCU may not be all who they seem to be.
At the end of the day however, Captain Marvel will be the MCU’s first female led superhero solo film, as well as first female directed film. The character of Captain Marvel was heavily implied to return to earth at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. No doubt Carol will play an integral role in defeated the mad titan Thanos (Josh Brolin), in Avengers 4. Carol Danvers is a superhero whom we all need right now, someone who makes mistakes and messes up from time to time, but who remains strong and perseveres through it all. A true inspiration to both young girls and boys alike.
Captain Marvel is set to soar into our galaxies’ theaters March 8th, 2019.
