Salma Hayek Being Eyed For A Role In Marvel Studios’ ‘The Eternals’

Marvel Studios’ most obscure project yet is not having any trouble getting big name stars to board the project, as Salma Hayek is reportedly in talks for a role in The Eternals.

According to TheWrap, character details are being kept under wraps.

Hayek would join a cast that includes Angelina Jolie – who is still in talks according to industry insiders, who is said to be playing Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, as well as Kumail Nanjiani and Ma Dong-seok — both in undisclosed roles. Keanu Reeves was also rumored for a role a couple of weeks back, but Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige has since said that Reeves is always looked at for roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Details about the film are still tightly under wraps. However, we do know that it will center on the Jack Kirby-created comic, The Eternals. The storyline follows super- powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals. They battle with a more monstrous offshoot known as the Deviants. Deviants arose at the hands of the cosmic beings called Celestials (a race featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy films).

Chloe Zhao, an award-winning indie director behind the critical hits The Rider and Songs My Brothers Taught Me, will helm from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

Filming on The Eternals is expected to begin later this year after Black Widow wraps production.
