Ewan McGregor Has Reportedly Signed On To Play Obi-Wan Once Again For a Disney+ Series

Our friends at Cinelinx posted an exclusive, reporting that Ewan McGregor has officially signed papers to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a Star Wars project!

The wait is almost over for eager fans who have been waiting patiently for McGregor’s return.  While the previously announced Kenobi film was dropped after the underperformance of Solo, it’s no secret Ewan McGregor has been eager to come back to Star Wars and Lucasfilm has just been waiting for the right way to bring him back.

A source close to us revealed that they’ve stretched the film script into six episodes that will debut on Disney+. While there were differing opinions on a Obi-Wan Kenobi stand-alone film, I think this format will go a lot better with fans.  Also, with The Mandalorian opening the door for endless possibilities of Star Wars universe shows, we all knew another show was going to come soon.  We reported in the past that rumors have indicated that the story would revolve around the Marvel Comics where the Jedi was on Tatooine overseeing Luke Skywalker.

D23 is just a week away, so there is a possibility Disney could officially announce the series now that McGregor’s contract is signed, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
