According to Variety, Minsky stepped away and a new showrunner has yet to be named at this time. According to A Disney spokesperson this is due to creative Differences, stating:
“After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”

As we previously learned during D23 Expo, Hilary Duff is going back to her Disney roots to reboot Lizzie McGuire. Lizzie is now in her 30’s and working her dream job in New York and dating a guy who owns a pizzeria. Although she’s still the Lizzie we know and love and instead of facing challenges of growing up, she’ll be facing challenges of being a grown-up.
Lalaine Vergara-Paras (Miranda Sanchez), Adam Lamberg (“Gordo”) and Clayton Snyder (Ethan Craft) will reprise their roles, as will the rest of Lizzie’s family Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas reprising their roles as Jo, Sam, and Matt McGuire.
