Disney has announced that the Disneyland Resort will be temporarily closed starting March 14. Disneyland Resort Hotels will remain open until March 16 so guests can make necessary travel accommodations. Disney will also continue to pay their cast members while the park is closed.
Disney also stated they will work with guests looking to change or cancel their planned visits and provide refunds to those who have hotels booked during the planned closure.
Disneyland Resorts released a statement:
“While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the Governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month.”
This becomes only the fourth time in history Disneyland has closed their doors the other events being the September 11 attacks, JFK’s assassination and the Northridge earthquake.
