First Look at Prince Eric’s Castle For The Live-Action ‘The Little Mermaid’

April 17, 2020Skyler Shuler

Hollywood is still shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. One of Disney’s biggest films affected by the shut down is the live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

Just two weeks ago, aerial images surfaced featuring a little bit of the set for the film at Pinewood Studios in London, England, Which gave us a look at Prince Eric’s beautiful ship. Now, an image has surfaced of what looks to be Prince Eric’s castle.

Take a look at the grand castle being worked on, that was sent to us from an Instagram user, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Production was expected to kick-off last month, but sadly Disney Studios put the film on hold, both Disney and Pinewood have sent their employees home and you can tell they were hard at work bring this beautiful castle to life. The image also looks very reminiscent of the original animated films version.

Directed by Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), The Little Mermaid is set to star musical artist Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah-Haur King as the aforementioned Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as the villainous Sea Witch Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Daveed Diggs as Scuttle, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.

Alan Menken recently revealed that he and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana) have finished recording all the music for the film, which will feature four brand-new songs. Menken has teased that those songs will consist of new ones for both King Triton (Bardem) and Scuttle (Awkwafina), we also hear Prince Eric will get his own song as well, and that another will feature a duo between both Ariel and Eric.

A huge thank you to LiveActionAriel for bringing the image to our attention.
