‘Hawkeye’ Series Taps Rhys Thomas And Duo Bert And Bertie To Direct

Borys Kit from The Hollywood Reporter just broke that Rhys Thomas (Saturday Night Live) as well as directing duo Bert and Bertie (Troop Zero) will be directing multiple episodes of Hawkeye.

Thomas has worked on many comedy specials and series’ like Saturday Night Live, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Comedian John Mulaney’s specials and more. As for Bert and Bertie(Amber Finlayson (Bert) and Katie Ellwood (Bertie), they directed Amazon’s smash hit Troop Zero, which stars Jim Gaffigan, Viola Davis and Allison Janney. This leads us to believe there may be comedic aspects to the series as all the directors come from comedy.

No further information has been released but it’s excited to see more headway on Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye series for Disney+.

Jeremy Renner is set to return as Clint Barton as he trains a new bow wielder – Kate Bishop who ends up taking the Hawkeye mantle.

Mad Men scribe Jonathan Igla will be writing and executive producing the series.

Not much is known on the series at this time but reports earlier this year revealed that Clint’s brother Barney Barton aka Trickshot and the New York crime organization Tracksuit Mafia would make appearances. It is still unknown if any other Avengers or existing characters will make an appearance.

No word if the series will be starting production in September; however, it is highly unlikely.
